SAP LabsIT Contributes to TechEd 2013 and SAPPHIRE Beijing
SAP LabsIT had the unique opportunity to setup a new SAP FIORI “wave 2” demo landscape for TechEd Las Vegas 2013. The landscape was used in Vishal Sikka’s keynote address. The landscape was later made available for hands-on demo on the showfloor.
SAP FIORI “wave 2” is a collection of additional apps for various roles like Sales Rep (SD), Project Manager/Project Employee, Production Worker, Production Supervisor, Quality Engineer, Employee and Sales Rep (CRM 7.0).

The demo landscape consists of ERP on HANA, a Web dispatcher, CRM on HANA and an ERP MRP on HANA, built on high end blade servers, 20TB of SAN storage, hardware set to high availability.
TechEd Behind the scenes
The demo was actually finalized onsite with a team of developers. Systems were copied from Germany. Several iterations of the demo have to be configured before we had one we were satisfied to present.
We had IT and development working together, the excitement of the race to finish created a camaraderie to show this new product to the world and being part of it.
When the keynote was finished, we were quietly celebrating behind the curtain.
The landscapes were later shipped back to SAP and used remotely for TechEd Amsterdam, Nov. 5-7, SAPPHIRE Beijing, Nov. 20-21 and TechEd Bangalore, Dec. 11-13.
