I deliberately titled the name of the document as a question, to make you think!

Is it possible, have you thought about this before, or is it that you still go to SCUL transaction in your CUA master system and check the logs daily.

What if its possible to integrate CUA with soman 7.1 MAI, and get instant alerts, notifications or tickets to your ticketing tool ( If SNMP traps are configured).

Check the document “HOW-TO+GUIDE+SNMP+Trap+Adapter_new_SPS10” from SAP on how to create SNMP traps if you are on SP10 for solman 7.1 or “HOW-TO+GUIDE+SNMP+Trap+Adapter” if you are on lower patch level.

Lets look at one possibility, the one which we have configured in our landscape and solman 7.1 system. Look at the snapshot below :

Each CUA_ERRORS_SID alert is configured for every child system in CUA and is being reported in solman MAI. How was this achieved ?

Is it Possible to Monitor Central user Administration (CUA) with Solman 7.1 MAI?

Step 1: Follow SAP note 1645544 – Monitoring of the Central User Administration. Enable CUA to send data to CCMS and enable monitoring.  Once this is done, Monitoring data is available in CCMS and ready to be fetched by solman MAI as below .

Each system which is a child in CUA will be be available in CCMS monitor and will show the status of the distribution of users for that particular system

Step 2:       Create custom metric and alerts for each system separately in the technical monitoring template. Since the complete CCMS data for CUA is available in one system, it is advisable to create a separate template for the system which is the CUA master.

Otherwise the metrics will be applied to all the systems with not data being displayed ( Gery metrics) in other systems except the CUA master and hence useless.

SAP delivered document  “How-to: Create Custom CCMS Metrics and Alerts” elaborates how to create custom metrics and alerts.

Metric and alert definition would be as below.I had also created a custom RFC pull extractor to make it easy to define data collection using MTE_CLASS and OBJECT values only.  Metrics (Type Exceptions) are defined as below should be created for each child system.

Is it Possible to Monitor Central user Administration (CUA) with Solman 7.1 MAI?

Create Alerts of type exceptions for each system and assign the metric of separate system to separate custom alerts for that particular system.

Once this has been done for all the systems , Save and re-apply the template to the CUA master system and some thing like this should be visible under “System Exceptions” tree in Techinical monitoring.

This data is a replica of the status of distribution of users in CUA in SCUL transaction in master CUA system and also the exact duplicate of status of CUA in CCMS.

There are numerous things which can be achieved by integration of CCMS with SOLMAN MAI. This is another one of them.

I hope this document has been informative and that you( the reader) are already planning on doing something new with this knowledge.

Thanks
