SAP Enterprise Threat Detection 1.0 SP4 – SAP HANA Smart Data Streaming (SDS)
With SAP Enterprise Threat Detection 1.0 SP4 there is a new component: SAP HANA Smart Data Streaming (SDS). SAP HANA Smart Data Streaming is the successor of SAP Event Streaming Processor (ESP) and we recommend to use SAP HANA Smart Data Streaming for all new installations.
What are the benefits?
Managed as a single system
- Via SAP HANA Cockpit
- Via Admin Console in SAP HANA Studio
Integrated development tools
- SDS plugin for HANA Studio
- Streaming module development in SAP Web IDE for SAP HANA
What will stay the same (SDS/ESP)?
- Same compiler, execution engine, and cluster architecture
- Design time tools are nearly the same from an end user perspective
- Same SDK’s and utilities
- Same adapters (only some minor exceptions)
- Same support for databases
- Same set of input/output options
- Same performance and scalability
What is NOT the case for SDS?
Myth: SDS runs in the SAP HANA database and thus impact performance of the SAP HANA database
Fact: SDS runs as a separate sever in the SAP HANA landscape and normally run on a separate host – not on the same host as the SAP HANA database.
Myth: SDS is Iess scalable
Fact: SDS and ESP have the same cluster architecture and scale-out options. Performance and scalability are identical
Myth: SDS hardware is more expensive
Fact: SDS does not require SAP certified hardware. SDS and ESP have identical hardware requirements.
Integration of SDS with SAP HANA
SAP HANA Administration Console
- Streaming nodes will be listed in the landscape view of the SAP HANA Administration Console in the SAP HANA Studio
- Status and ability to stop/start nodes
Centralized Monitoring and Administration
- New, web based monitoring and administration console for SAP HANA Systems
- 5 new tiles provided by the Streaming Catalog that can be added to the user’s dashboard in SAP HANA Cockpit
