As you can see in my bio I am not only the Collaboration Manager for SDN but on the side in my free time I am also co-producing the Accelerating Change Conference happening next Weekend from the 5th to the 7th of November at Stanford and this is a shameless promotion of the event. I am biased, but here are some reasons why I am really looking forward to this it.

Dagfinn Parnas mentioned in his My impression of TechEd ’04 Munich : Interesting key notes from technically adapt SAP leaders (especially Shai Agassi’s keynote was excellent)

I liked Shai’s keynote too, but with 5000 other SAP TechEd participants in attendance standing in the back it had the feeling of a Rolling Stones stadium concert.

At the Accelerating Change Conference there will be around 300 people which means you will be a lot closer to the action.

Shai’s keynote will be about Achieving Enterprise Agility:
Abstract: SAP customers process roughly 50% of the world’s GDP through its systems annually. Flexibility, interconnectivity, analytics and usability are key capabilities that companies need to succeed in today’s competitive marketplace. Mr. Agassi will illustrate SAP’s strategy for enabling the “in-time enterprise” which can rapidly adapt to market demands and increase the velocity of events throughout business networks.

There are other really exciting speakers at that event:

Dough Engelbart quoted in a recent Wired Article: I came to realize that we needed new levels of group understanding and abilities to work collectively to solve complex problems. He will present his vision about it.

David Brin will talk about: Evaluating Horizons: What Limits Our Ability to Cope With Accelerating Change?

Gordon Bell Microsoft BARC MyLifeBits: The Memex Vision and Some Implications of Storing Everything Personal
When I talked to Dan Gillmor, another interesting speaker, he checked the schedule and was really happy not to compete with Gordon, he said he is that good.

Will Wright Creator of The Sims. Sculpting Possibility Space. Sims 2 has just been released where they added artificial intelligence for a wider emotional range of the characters.

Many more speakers, panels and debates. What I really like with this Conference is, that great minds from all kinds of disciplines are coming together. At the overlap of these disciplines is where the interesting things are happening. See you there, Mark.

P.S. As an SDN member you get a $50 discount by entering the code AC2004-SDN (all caps)
